Hello, Blessing !
Acting is a most creative, satisfying career. For those with the passion and the enthusiasm for it, real life is not enough - it must be reflected. So if you have this special zest for an acting career, I would be happy to lend advice for the process.
The way to becoming a good actress is to firstly be specific with exactly what you need assistance with. The way to growing is through life experience and acting experience. Each production you are in will teach you about yourself as an actress. It's not a question of getting better, except if you have a specific concern, but getting "different". As you proceed with your acting, you will discover things about your potential and capabilities. While you are still starting out. each show or film you do will be closely directed. The director can help you out and may even offer suggestions on your performance.
Acting is a process so there is really no guide book for this career. You should not underestimate yourself. A good way to stay in the loop is to be involved with other actors and take as many acting classes as you can. In class you will receive focused, personal and specific feedback on your acting when you do monologues or scenes. The teacher or professor will critique you and give you insight on how to do the performance "better". You can also gather some people who would be interested in doing some videos with you. Try to find fellow actors, writers and people who like to direct. Experience is crucial in this field of work. Being in shows at your school and in the community will also provide you with progress in your acting technique and skills. The only way you become a great actress is to recognize that you are yourself. You will definitely reach that level, so do not rush things now, take it one step at a time and enjoy every moment.
Other ways to keep up with the career is to read trade papers such as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. Also read a lot of plays. Knowing plays will help you beforehand when auditioning. Explore everything. Acting no longer has to be a mystery to you.
As you explore, if you are in high school, it is important that you maintain good grades and do not allow your acting to interfere with your school schedule or school work. Take public speaking to sharpen your presentation skills which you will need during auditions and if you work on business commercials or get a job as a show host.
The biggest tip is to give it time and do not rush things. Go through your own personal path and journey because everyone's career goes differently and yours is special, too. Don't project into the future, concentrate on the lessons you learn in the present.
I hope this helps and I wish you all the best with this challenging but fun career !
