As a PMH what words would you use to best describe your day ?
I'm doing a research project around a career I am interested in, and want to know more.

Hello Amaya,
Good question! As a Psychiatric Mental Health professional, I would describe my day as dynamic, fulfilling, and thought-provoking. Every day brings a variety of experiences, from listening to patients' stories to collaborating with a healthcare team to helping someone find hope in challenging times.
My mornings might start with reviewing patient cases and creating treatment plans. Midday often involves meeting patients, conducting assessments, and offering therapy or medication management. Afternoons can vary—sometimes I’m educating families, researching new treatments, or reflecting on how I can better support those in my care.
It’s not always easy, but the ability to make a positive difference in someone’s mental health journey makes it incredibly rewarding. If you’re considering this field, know that it requires patience, empathy, and a strong passion for helping others—but it’s worth every moment!
Best wishes!

As a PMH (Psychiatric Mental Health) professional, the day can be summed up in a mix of thoughtful words and some lighthearted ones:
Empathy – Because connecting with people requires a lot of it.
Patience – Seriously, endless amounts.
Listening – Like, really listening, not the “uh-huh, sure” kind.
Problem-solving – A little like Sherlock Holmes, but with feelings.
Coffee – Not technically a word for my day, but it powers all the other words.
Boundaries – Because, you know, you can’t pour from an empty cup.
And let's not forget hope, because every day, no matter how challenging, there's always a sense of moving toward healing and growth. Oh, and maybe snacks—because even PMH pros need a good granola bar mid-shift! 😊
