What's the best course of action if I want to become an FBI agent?

I plan to go to college and major in Political Science/Law or Criminology. I had also thought to become a police officer before hand. Any advice on this?

Lavanya’s Answer

To become an FBI agent, start by majoring in Political Science, Law, or Criminology.
Gain relevant work experience, such as becoming a police officer, to build your skills and knowledge.
Ensure you meet the FBI’s eligibility criteria, including age and citizenship requirements.
Develop crucial skills like critical thinking, physical fitness, and language proficiency.
Finally, apply through the FBI’s official website and prepare for the rigorous selection process.
Hope this helps. Good luck on your journey to joining the FBI!

Duncan’s Answer

The FBI publishes a pretty comprehensive list of requirements on their website it seems: https://fbijobs.gov/special-agents
"Have a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of full-time professional work experience, or have an advanced degree and at least one year of full-time professional work experience." This looks like it'll be you first step, so you're on the right track!

In addition to this, I'd look into online communities like Reddit where people are discussing their experiences trying to become an FBI agent as well. Continue to do research like you have started so far, look at content on places like YouTube where people publish their stories on becoming an agent.

Good luck!
