Hi John!
It's great that you already know what you want to study! I'm currently studying Biochemistry at university right now, and I can share what works for me
1.) Taking advanced biology/chemistry courses in high school really helped prepare me for college level bio/chem courses even if I didn't get college credit for them
2.) Develop a study calendar/study habits early on in the semester
3.) Don't be afraid to ask professors/TA's for help!
4.) Consider what you want to do with biology (medical school, PhD program, teaching, etc.)
5.) Keep good grades in elective/core classes to help boost your GPA
