How can I prepare for college and living away from my parents?

I am one of the only people in my family, the first child, to go to college. We do not know what to expect. How can I start preparing for this change that is about to occur? This will also be the first time I am going to be away from my parents; I will be living in a dorm. How can I get ready for that change, emotionally and physically? #Freshman #emotional

Thank you comment icon Bring items from home that make you feel connected.... pictures, favorite blanket/pillow, games, clothes, etc. Make sure you have some type of face time or Skype. Get online ahead of time and meet people who will be going to the same college as you. Then you will be going to see friends when you go to school. Hope this helps! Lucy

Hellos,

Dear I was very homesick child and I decided that I never left my town in my lifespan but today I do not feel to go back.

Actually the actual education is staying far away from home. If you will not go away from your home you will become stronger, you will not get the perspective, you will not get the purpose of the life.

And life without purpose is nothing but waste.

My decision to go away from home has given me my purpose of life and I am in love with my life.

And about college, that was the best time of the lifespan and the one is unlucky if he/she has not enjoy the college and hostel life.

Go ahead man, soon you will experience how beautiful the life is.

Thank you.

One of the best ways to handle going off to college is to find you a support team when you get on campus.
