Hi Kaelyn,

I know it sounds overwhelming to know what classes to take in the direction you want to go. The first two years in college are your core classes and I would get in contact with somebody in the business department so they can give you the right classes as a start. You should have an advisor to help you but do not rely on them because they can just easily put in classes you don't need. Although, I second the person above me response you will see classes with different names that goes with a business major.

Hello Kaelyn,

In the early stages of any business program, you'll encounter a series of "core courses". These are not just stepping stones to your advanced studies, but also a solid foundation on which to construct your business acumen. These courses are meticulously designed to equip you with the essential business skills, making you a well-rounded candidate. But that's not all! They also offer you a great opportunity to explore various business sectors, helping you identify the ones that pique your interest the most for your future career.

Different programs may have unique names or versions for these courses, but the core classes typically include:
- Business Management Essentials
- Introduction to Economics
- Accounting and Financial Management
- Business Administration Basics
- Business Law Fundamentals
- Professional Communication Skills
- Marketing Strategies
- Human Resource Management Techniques
- Business Ethics Principles
- Business Communication Methods
- Introductory Sociology or Psychology

Don't forget to thoroughly check your college's course catalog and consult with an academic advisor. This will ensure that you're fulfilling all the necessary prerequisites for your specific program. I'm confident you'll do great! Best of luck on your journey!

Hi Kaelyn,

It's great that you're starting so early learning what you want to do with your career. I think this question might be best suited for your guidance counselor to see what all courses and programs your school offers for business classes. Courses like business management, marketing, and business technology come to mind as they teach some of the fundamental skills you will need. any course that helps you to get proficient with excel and or technology might be helpful too as these are key tools businesses use and often a part of college degree plans in business. Lastly Future business leaders of America (FBLA) is a club designed to help high schoolers like yourself gain the skills to be successful business people in the future. You should look into that as well.
