Simply put, Information technology (IT) is a broad term that encompasses anything involving the utilization of computer systems and devices to gain access to information. Information Technology career's involve analyzing systems, computer programming and providing computer support. IT professionals work in a variety of roles, including technical support, website design, programming and computer engineering.
The most common requirement for a career as an IT professional is a bachelor's degree. While several majors fall under the IT umbrella, the most popular are information systems and computer science. A foundation in mathematics, science and engineering combined with coursework in data management, data structures, numerical analysis and programming languages prepares students for employment as IT specialists.
After graduation, students will need to compete against those with IT experience for available jobs. Therefore, it is helpful to find an internship even if it is not a mandatory component of an IT degree program.

I can't add a lot to what Doc responded with, so here's a little challenge.
Take some time to search around on the Internet for information on IT. Perhaps jump onto a chatbot and ask questions associated with discovering IT. Here's but one chatbot prompt that should produce a very interesting and informative response:
What are the key concepts of IT that would help me understand the different areas that I might be able to be involved in, and what are the best ways to prepare for a career in IT? Also, what kinds of courses are included in different information technology college degrees?
So you know, I have been involved with IT in one way or another since about 1989. I have had numerous roles and have loved almost every one of them. Tons of fun. Tons of friends. Tons of stories. Tons of experience.
If you decide to take the leap, don't shoot for the topmost jobs in IT. Put yourself into roles that will help you grow into other roles, each of which will help you grow into yet more roles.
It's a great path. I hope you love the journey.

It includes network administration and infrastructure management, software development and engineering, database management and data analytics, cybersecurity and information security, cloud computing and virtualization, IT support and helpdesk operations, hardware and system integration, web development and digital design, telecommunications and unified communications, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), DevOps and system automation, IT governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), IT project management, enterprise architecture, Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing, IT service management (ITSM), business intelligence (BI) and reporting, emerging technologies like blockchain and quantum computing, mobile application development, digital forensics and incident response, and IT procurement and vendor management.

1. There are plenty of careers in Tech, eg Developer, System Engineer, Application Support, System Architect, Network Administrator, Database Administrator,etc. You can find out more tech related online
2. Find out more more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
