Another thing to consider is the state in which the school is and the cost of the private school. On average, public school teachers do make more, however there are some very prestigious private schools that are also competitive with salaries as well. It has been my experience that most fatih based private school teachers feel like their teaching is apart of ministry so they are not motivated by what is paid but by touching lives.

Another factor in the pay scale is level of education of the teacher. A Bachelors degree is one rate and for additional classes or degrees that scale goes higher. Teachers are also compensated based on tenure in the role.

Teaching is the one of few professions that touch just about every person, it is rewarding to be part of shaping who people grow up to be. So for many its not just about money its about influence and giving back to the world!

On average, private school teachers make less than public school teachers. This is because many private schools do not require state certification from their teachers. According to Payscale in 2010, the average salary for a public school teacher was $42,153, while the average salary for private school teachers was $35,342.

However, some other factors matter more. For example, high school teachers make more than elementary school teachers. Teachers in richer parts of the country make more than teachers in poorer parts of the U.S. For example, a teacher in California earns $50,438 on average, while one in Florida earns an average of $39,187.

Take a look at this website for details on salary by who employs the teacher:
