If you graduate from college with a major in psychology, you would definitely have the opportunity to work in a school. However, if you major in psychology in college, you are unlikely to get a really high-paying job, unless you then go to graduate school. Some example jobs right out of college for psychology majors include:

mental health counselor

youth counselor -- this could be in a school

substance abuse counselor

social services case manager

social worker

rehabilitation specialist

psychiatric technician

However, outside of social services, there are also other very different types of career options for psychology majors, and some of these could be quite high paying. For example, going into sales, marketing, and management are common career paths for psychology majors because the understanding of human behavior you gain as a psychology major makes you a good candidate for jobs that require strong communication skills.

With a degree in psychology, you have a broad range of career opportunities. To specifically become a school counselor, you'll need to pursue further education and obtain the necessary licensure. However, your undergraduate degree will open many doors and provide a strong foundation for various roles in the field of psychology and beyond.
