Cybersecurity will be an in demand area so it is a good focus area to study. Cybersecurity is a subfield within the over all computer engineering degrees usually. This will be an ever changing area so beginning the understanding of continuous learning will be important. Continuous learning habits include keeping up with the changing industry through reading and keeping up with the social trends. I would recommend the following:
1) Develop your communication skills. Being able to clearly communicate issues, challenges and future threats will be a critical part of your role. This includes understanding risk frameworks and being able to clearly articulate issues within an appropriate risk framework.
2) Work for a degree in computer engineering or computer science as well as cybersecurity specific classes and certifications. You will need to understand the various operating systems as well as infrastructure choices including the various flavors of containers and the way to run containers in environment. You will also need a clear understanding of network technologies and how cloud platforms and on premise systems work together in the hybrid cloud environment.
3) Develop strong problem solving skills and architecture design from a software and hardware standpoint. Understanding how things work together and being able to dig into systems to figure out problems will help you develop the needed understanding and skills.

This looks like a lot I understand but with this in mind you can work to develop the knowledge and skills you will need. You will need to start out with the foundation and grow in various areas, the key to this is the continuous learning and communication skills. These are foundational which will allow you to grow and mature as the technology changes.

2. Get familiar with the top operating systems (MacOS, Windows, and Linux). You will be using operating systems a lot, so it's worth it to understand how these operating systems work!
