how can attendance effect ones chances to get a raise, and how does bad attendance effect you before being fired?

how many times does it take to get a warning about attendance ?#heo

Thank you comment icon Depends on several things. How big the company is. What type of boss you have. What the situation is. To many variables to really be correct in an answer. If it was upfront in the interview that there could be issues, ie taking kids to school, public transportation, as long as it was upfront then not usually a problem. When I punched a time clock, we had a 7 minute window. At 8 minutes you were late, after 3 times you were given a verbal warning, then next was a written warning. 1 more time then was termination no matter the reason. Even if you call in saying you are going to be late (unless an emergency) it counts against you. Be on time is the best thing to do. Steve Brewton

It has a major impact on the chances of getting a raise - most of the battle is in showing up.

If that's something you're having a hard time with doing, spend some serious time reflecting on why that's the case and what your next steps should be.

Most all workplaces that need you to be physically present will eventually fire you for this eventually, even if no official policy is in place for it. Not showing up tarnishes your image even if you have a great reputation in all other respects. I've seen multiple people get fired from multiple past jobs for this.
