Daniela’s Answer

Hello Cynthia,

Before opting for clinical psychology career it is necessary that the student ask a few questions for yourself:

1. Do I have interest in mental and emotional health?

  1. Do I have patience and empathy to achieve listen carefully to conflict brought by the patient?

  2. Can I filter (in my mind and my emotions), the conflict brought by the person, so I do not get involved on a personal level?

Before enrolling in undergraduate degree in psychology, it would be interesting to talk to a healthcare professional. You can take your doubts and talk a little about the daily routine of the psychological clinic.

Deciding to opt for clinical psychology, in the middle of the course you probably will have to meet a workload of stages serving people in a "Clinic-School" at the University. This will give you a practical experience in the clinical work environment, as well as training your competencies and skills in the career.

After graduation, you can get a specialization in order to further deepen your knowledge in psychology.

Kaitlyn’s Answer

Hello Cynthia! I embarked on my journey towards clinical psychology only when I entered college. My first step was to earn my associate's degree in psychology. Now, I'm passionately pursuing my bachelor's degree in clinical psychology at the prestigious University of Central Florida. I took the time to confirm that practicing psychology and embodying the role of a real psychologist is what I truly wanted for my lifelong career. I encourage you to explore whether the rewarding task of assisting people and guiding them through their most challenging times is something that resonates with you.
Wishing you all the success in the world!
