Tristan,

The short answer is, as many as you want. Police officers are known for working lots of overtime, and also side jobs, such as security at events.

However, not all dollars are created equal. Rent is much more expensive in San Francisco than San Antonio. Using the previous response of a salary of $115,778 in San Francisco, you would need only $63,000 in San Antonio to have the same standard of living!

Also, it's not just about salary. The benefits packages vary considerably. Some departments pay extra for working later shifts, working holidays, having a college degree, being bilingual, tuition assistance ,etc.

Police officers usually make enough to live on. Learning to manage your money makes it go further. That is something I encourage you to learn about as soon as possible, as it gives you a headstart in adulthood.

Thank you comment icon you're welcome! Your profile doesn't show your city, you might try to update that, as location matters! So, to live in Quebec, instead of $63,000 (San Antonio) I would need only $51,437 US Dollars to live in Quebec. https://livingcost.org/cost Kim Igleheart
