Hello, Jeremy !
It's great that you already have a career interest in Business and want to speak with business people for an interview so that you can learn more about the career. Your first step is to pinpoint which type of "business" you need to know more about.
We are advisors and do not do direct services one on one so there'd be no way to correspond with a business person here unless you post your questions in a separate post. That being said, it will be very useful and effective for you if you interview someone face to face in person.
You can begin by exploring and making a stronger connection at your colleges' Business Department. Discover who runs a business and interview them. You can also walk around your neighborhood and ask various business owners of services or products if you can interview them. Doing it in person may take the conversation in different directions that may be insightful for you.
Make sure you focus on one type of specific aspect or business because the word "business" can cover an unlimited ground. Ask questions that have to do with the education and work specifically and try to avoid things like "how much money can I make" or what the hardest thing for them is because your career will be different and unique, involving different people and things. Try to find out what would be expected of you in the particular type of business you plan to do.
You can also read many books that can be informative about a career in business.. It may be good for your report and knowledge to research the information the business owner tells of and use it in your report if this is for a college assignment.
I hope this helps. Best wishes in all you do !

Hello!
Interviewing a business professional can be a great learning experience. Here are some tips to help you prepare and conduct a successful interview:
Preparation
Research the Interviewee: Learn about their background, career, and the company they work for.
Know the Industry: Familiarize yourself with trends or challenges in their field.
Prepare Questions: Create a mix of open-ended questions covering their career journey, business insights, challenges, and advice for students like yourself.
Set Objectives: Define what you want to learn or take away from the conversation.
Sample Questions
Can you tell me about your career path and what led you to your current position?
What are the biggest challenges in your industry today?
What skills or qualities do you think are essential for success in your field?
How do you handle difficult decisions or setbacks in business?
What advice would you give to a college student aspiring to work in business?
During the Interview
Be Professional: Dress appropriately and arrive on time (or log in punctually for a virtual meeting).
Active Listening: Show genuine interest by maintaining eye contact and nodding or responding appropriately.
Take Notes: Jot down key points but don’t let it distract from your conversation.
Stay Flexible: If an interesting topic comes up, explore it even if it wasn't part of your initial questions.
After the Interview
Express Gratitude: Thank the interviewee for their time both verbally and in a follow-up email.
Reflect: Review your notes and summarize the key insights for your assignment.
Send a Follow-Up: If appropriate, share the final project or any quotes you plan to use.
Good luck!

I’d be happy to help! While I’m a college student myself, I’ve spoken with professionals in business and could share insights or connect you with useful resources. If you're looking for a formal interview, you might want to specify the industry (finance, marketing, management, etc.) and whether you need someone in a specific role.
In the meantime, feel free to drop your questions here, and I’ll do my best to help or point you in the right direction! 😊

Hi Jeremy!
Thank you for submitting your question to us and trusting this community for advice.
If you want to speak with an business associate about their professional life, I would first encourage you to look around and see who you have connections with. Do you parents, classmates, or trusted friends have someone working in business that they know, who would be willing to connect you? Starting to search for a business professional through your inner circle connections is a great place to start.
If your school has a guidance counselor or career advisor, I would also schedule some time to meet with them to additional insight and assistance in connecting with a professional.
Perhaps speaking with them could also help you narrow down what type of business professional are you looking for. Do you want to speak with someone working in the private, non-profit, or government sector? Do you want to find someone who does a specific business task, like management, finance, marketing, or sales? Reflecting on these questions can help you narrow your search for the types of individuals you are looking to ask about.
Lastly, you can search for business professionals on the professional social media site, LinkedIn. This is the largest professional media site out there and can be a great place to find business professionals who are willing to answer any questions you might have about their work and experience. Before reaching out on the platform, I recommend building your own profile first and getting help from a trusted advisor to ensure it looks well done.
I hope these tips have helped you, Jeremy, in your search for a business professional to speak with. Below I have summarized the steps detailed here. Best of luck to you and reach out anytime should you have any more questions.
