Lots of game development does need assistants or whole teams, yes. Your first question is of scale and budget; and tailoring your ambitions to projects that are roughly aligned with your capabilities. If you're just getting started, unless you have person connections within a big games studio or have a budget to start your own, you need to start with smaller, simpler games that you can do as a lone person; and gradually work up from there. Perhaps take inspiration from classic games from the infancy of the personal computing era, look at simple 2D games - platformers, side-scrollers, etc. There's been plenty of excellent indie games development building on those sorts of ideas that work as one-person projects.
The first main step in getting started is developing your programming / coding skills. I guess there are some graphical click-and-drag or flowchart-based games maker programs if you want something quick and simple for a one-off passion project, but if you're serious about game development, you'll want to develop proper code, so choose a programming language suitable for the sort of thing you want to do - whether its on PC, mobile apps, web-based etc; and learn the language - a good technique can be to use simplified aspects of your game as examples to practice as you learn the language.
From there, it's not necessarily my area of expertise, so I struggle to give specific advice, but I do know there's an awful lot of content for learning game development on YouTube videos and courses on sites like Coursera and Brilliant - so that's the sort of place I would turn to next.

Hey Amoh,
So, I’m not sure if you mean how to start a video game or how to become a pro at one—but don’t worry, I’ve got you covered for both. Whether you’re just trying to press “Start” or aiming to be the next gaming legend, here’s your game plan:
Step 1: Actually Start the Game
Alright, first things first—turn on your device (yes, that’s step one). If the game isn’t starting, check your controller, keyboard, or maybe just whisper sweet words to your console. If that fails, hit the “Start” button like you mean it.
Now, if you meant starting your gaming journey—keep reading.
Step 2: Choose Your Game Wisely
Are you into fast reflexes (FPS games), big brain strategy (RTS games), or just pure chaos (fighting games)? Finding the right game is like choosing a character in an RPG—pick one that fits your playstyle.
Step 3: Learn the Basics (Yes, Even the Boring Stuff)
Even the greatest players started somewhere—probably by losing horribly at first. Read the controls, practice the moves, and resist the urge to rage-quit after getting beaten by AI on “Easy Mode.”
Step 4: Git Gud (a.k.a. Get Better)
Here’s where the real grind begins: like for really!
Watch Pros Play – Learn their moves, their strategies, and their weird superstitions (some players only sit on the left side of the couch—true story).
Practice Daily – No one became a pro overnight. Play, lose, improve, repeat.
Master One Game First – Jumping between 20 different games might make you “decent” at all of them, but being insanely good at one is how you stand out.
Step 5: Upgrade Your Gear (Eventually)
Your skill matters more than your setup, but if you’re serious about gaming, you might want:
A good controller/mouse & keyboard – Faster response time = fewer losses.
A solid internet connection – Because lag is every gamer’s worst enemy. Oh believe me buddy it is soooo true.
A comfy chair – You’ll be sitting a lot, might as well do it in style. Unless you are up for self design to save that cash!
Step 6: Play Online & Enter Tournaments because its how you shine.
Once you feel confident, test your skills against real players. Whether it’s online ranked matches or esports tournaments, facing tougher competition is the best way to improve. Just prepare for trash talk—it’s all part of the fun.
Step 7: Never Stop Having Fun
Even if you’re grinding to be a pro, remember—gaming is about fun. Enjoy the process, laugh at your fails, and maybe don’t throw your controller when things go south.
Now, go press Start, and may your reflexes be fast and your WiFi be stable! 🎮
And yes I okay games that's why i know so much, who says medics cant play!
Good luck and hope i answered the question correct but if not do let me know i would be glad to help out anytime Amoh , all the best!
