Kendall, heyo, lemme say you’re already crushing it just by asking this question, and Miss Takieaa came in with some straight-up wisdom. Best advice? Making voice clips of your favorite characters. Absolute facts. Because no one’s out here hiring based on “trust me, bro, I do a sick Pikachu.” You gotta prove it.
Think of it like an artist’s portfolio, except instead of drawings, it's you making a hedgehog sound like he just downed five energy drinks. And yeah, maybe your first take makes Sonic sound more like he needs a nap than a race, but that’s part of the grind. Every time you practice, your voice levels up.
Miss Takieaa also hit gold with the whole “learn from the pros” thing. Nancy Cartwright teaching voice acting? That’s like LeBron personally coaching your jump shot. If you can, get in on that.
Now, a few extra gems for the road:
Warm up your voice. Sirens, humming, tongue twisters—do whatever it takes to wake up those vocal cords. You wouldn’t hit the gym without stretching, right? Same logic.
Mess with accents. A cowboy robot? A Shakespearean villain? A French baguette with a vendetta? The weirder, the better. It expands your range, and studios love range.
Dub over random videos. Mute an anime fight scene and replace the dialogue with something ridiculous. If you can make a dramatic final battle about someone losing their pizza actually sound emotional, you're doing something right.
Jump into indie projects. There are tons of small games, animations, and fan projects looking for voices. You get practice, experience, and a chance to build a portfolio that isn’t just you talking into your phone.
And most importantly? Be loud. Be weird. Have fun. The best voices come from people who aren’t afraid to sound absolutely ridiculous at first. You got this, future voice legend. 🎙All the best Kendall! 😎🔥

Hello Kendall
It’s great that you’re creating your own career path and following your passion. I believe you should continue following your heart and providing, to benefit your resume, a voice acting clip of your favorites and characters you create. If you haven’t created any character voices then make sure to perfect the ones you love.
For example, you mentioned one of your favorites is Sonic the Hedgehog. To pursue a career in Voice Acting, you might want to make a video of yourself mimicking that character’s voice. See if your version is perfect or needs some improvement. Also, you might choose a few animal videos that inspire you. Remember to have fun, Hedgehog once didn’t have a voice until someone just like you created one for him! Enjoy your creative process of adding a voice to those creatures, making their videos come to life.
With your parents’ permission and guidance, you can set up a professional page on YouTube add the best videos with your professional name and hashtag. This will be so you can provide a link for potential employers to see your quality content.
You can also study under current voice actors, like Nancy Cartwright, who teaches voice acting classes on a website called “Master Class”. She has been in business for over 40 years, so getting certified trainer from her will really boost your career, confidence and qualifications. You will be able to begin your career immediately!
I hope this information helps you in your career path. Have a great life!
