Thank you comment icon Logan, you're on the right track! Dr. H really breaks it down well — sports careers aren't just about being a player or coach. Whether it's sports marketing, becoming an agent, or diving into the tech side with esports or sports app development, there are tons of opportunities waiting for you. Diana also highlights key roles in physical therapy, event planning, and social media, which are all growing areas in the sports industry. Combine your passion with a bit of creativity, and you can carve out your own unique sports-related career path. Keep exploring, and good luck on your journey! Mr. Trish
Thank you comment icon I'm currently working for my athletics department and I can tell you there are many jobs behind the scene that you wouldn't think about when first thinking of sports-related positions. I have operated a wireless camera, fired graphics on the videoboard, done show control, and been a replay operator. I think just making a breakthrough with a lower position in sports will get you exposed to the many different opportunities and you'll figure out which one you're interested in. Gwen

Hey Logan!

I'm so excited you're thinking about turning your passion for sports into a career — that's already a winning mindset! The sports world is massive, and what a lot of people don't realize is that you don't have to be an athlete to have an amazing career in sports. There are so many jobs that make the sports world go round — whether you're behind the scenes, on the sidelines, or even creating the next viral sports moment.

Alrightie so for Sports Jobs That Could Be Your Perfect Fit 🔥I gotta say Let's just break it down into a few lanes — because there’s way more out there than just coaching or playing.

If You Want to Be Around the Action becuas ehwy not right? 🤪🎯

Sports Agent (basically the mastermind behind athletes' contracts and sponsorship deals)

Athletic Trainer (helping athletes stay healthy and recover from injuries)

Sports Journalist or Broadcaster (think ESPN, podcasting, or even starting your own YouTube channel)

Equipment Manager (making sure every player has what they need to perform)

Referee or Official (for local leagues or working your way up to the big leagues)

If You Want to Build the Game from the Sidelines 🤔 then try and checkout these roles.

Sports Marketing or Social Media Manager (running the social pages and creating viral moments for teams)

Event Coordinator (helping organize games, tournaments, and fan events)

Graphic Designer for Sports Brands (making jerseys, logos, or social media graphics)

Video Editor or Content Creator (think hype videos for teams or YouTube highlights)

If You're into Science + Sports 🔬 you could check out:

Physical Therapist or Sports Rehab Specialist (helping athletes bounce back from injuries)

Sports Psychologist (helping athletes with their mental game)

Nutritionist (keeping athletes fueled up for top performance)

Biomechanist (studying how athletes move to improve performance)

If You Want to Lead the Whole Show then I had say...

Sports Management (running the business side of teams or events)

General Manager for a Team (like the person who builds the roster and makes all the big moves)

Scout (finding the next big stars before anyone else)

Data Analyst (breaking down stats and helping teams win with numbers — like what Moneyball is all about)

Here's the Secret Sauce............ 😏
The best part is... you can mix sports with literally anything you're already into.

Love tech? Get into esports or sports app development.

Love fashion? Sports brands like Nike and Adidas need designers.

Love photography? Become a game-day photographer.

Love gaming? Esports teams need coaches, managers, and content creators too.

The best thing about the sports industry? Passion beats experience every time. If you show people how much you love the game and you're willing to learn, you'll find your place.

Keep chasing that dream, Logan — your future in sports is calling, and I have a feeling you're about to build something legendary.

If you ever need help figuring out which lane feels right or how to break in, I'm always here to coach you through it.
Go crush it, future MVP! 🏆

Dr recommends the following next steps:

Start volunteering or working part-time with local teams (even high school teams need social media managers or stat keepers).
Follow sports careers on Instagram or TikTok — accounts like @TeamWorkOnline and @OpenSportsJobs post jobs all the time.
Take online courses in sports management or marketing (websites like Coursera and LinkedIn Learning offer free ones).
Start your own sports blog, TikTok, or podcast — show the world your love for the game!
DM your favorite local teams on social media and ask if they need help with social media, photography, or game-day setup.

Hi Logan! It's fantastic that you're interested in working in sports. There are so many exciting paths you can take, from sports media to sports medicine roles like Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, or Physician. I suggest you explore a few areas that excite you, such as nutrition, physical therapy, athletic training, or strength and conditioning. If you're in college, try reaching out to the head of those departments. They might help you find volunteer opportunities. Also, consider choosing a major that aligns with your sports passion. I'm an athletic training technician at my university, and I'm cheering you on! You can do it!

Hello Logan!

Opportunities in the Sports Industry are endless! However, you are more likely to get these opportunities based on your overall character and work ethic!

Working in sports requires working with people of all ages and backgrounds! Working in sports also requires leading by example!

I have worked in Sports Performance (Strength & Conditioning), Events & Entertainment (NFL, USL, MLB, etc.), and Athletics (Teaching, Coaching, Mentoring, Management); all of which require you to be well rounded and energetic!

We all start somewhere!! Athletes who perform, get playing time and recognition. Same thing for those who work in sports! Hard work brings perks, growth, and progression! Ultimately, getting wherever you wish to go, will come with some sacrifice!

Smile! Have fun! Work Hard! Learn. Put others first! And good things will happen!

Good luck!
