Alabama Power has many different mechanic positions within the company. There are mechanics that work at power plants that perform repairs on pipes, pumps, compressors, etc. That position will favor a background in mechanical maintenance. I would try and build a resume with experience working at some kind of maintenance position at a manufacturing facility somewhere.

Alabama Power will also have mechanics that work on the fleet of commercial vehicles they operate such as bucket trucks, highway vehicles, etc. If that is what you are looking for then heavy equipment operation/repair experience is what I would focus on. You'll probably need some hydraulic repair experience, too.
