Can I become a singer without teacher??

I love singing and i practice 8-10 hours everyday without any teacher .I watch videos of professional singers and just practice hard. If I ever become a good singer I want to help poor people..I don't want it for fame .I just want to be a singer whom everyone knows #music #singer #musician #vocalist #vocals

Hi Sajal, You are doing exactly what I used to do! Just sing along with music that you love because you just love it! Lessons from a vocal coach are great at some point because a good teacher will be able to help you correct the things that you might be doing wrong that might actually hurt your voice in the long run. The answer to your question is yes! Many people have become great singers and are hugely successful without a teacher. But, at some point most probably got some coaching just to help them. If you want to be a professional, you need to learn how to strength and preserve your voice so you can perform night after night. A good coach will be super helpful. I produced a session for Sheryl Crow a few years back. She grew up singing along to the radio just like you. But, when she started to take her career serious she knew she needed some knowledge and guidance. You can find lots of good videos online these days from some amazing coaches and you don't have to pay anything! Good luck with your singing!

Hi Sajal, that is a great question! I grew up in the classic rock era (1970's) and I'm certain most of the singers of the time were self trained or "sang from the heart". That being said, if possible it would never hurt to have a few formal vocal lessons to learn about breathing techniques, how to prepare to sing for a long concert, etc. I hope you follow your dream! I play guitar and adore music and intend to spend more time with it even as I get older!

Thank you comment icon I agree Bill. having a instructor would be very beneficial not everyone can just sing "through the heart". Jacob Burnside

Hello sajal,
It sounds to me like you have a lot of natural talent and just like many of us when we first started out, are singing along to your favorite artists. But this isn't always healthy because the Recording is your singing along to have been perfected in the studio overtime and can cause a strain on your voice if you are not properly coaching music suitable for your voice type. So to answer your question some where along the Journey to becoming a professional musician you should seek the guidance of a teacher or coach.
Don't be like the person who took a trip and never asked for directions and stay lost much longer than it should have. It's always good to have a guide who's been there and done that.
Best of luck in all of your endeavors.
