How can I be able to get elevated in Math?
I am in 7th grade standard math right now, and I really want to get into Algebra 1 next year for math, are there any resources to help me learn pre-algebra/8th grade math?
There is a summer placement test for this so are there any recommendations for textbooks, or resources

Hey Cindy!
First off—respect. Wanting to jump ahead in math? That’s some next-level thinking, I wish my student would think like this! 😅You’re basically the math version of a time traveler, trying to skip straight to the cool stuff. And lucky for you, Algebra 1 is just a step up, and you’re already on the right path.☺️
So how do you level up? Think of it like training for a math marathon (but with fewer sweaty socks).
Step 1: Get Cozy with Pre-Algebra
Algebra 1 is like a party, and pre-algebra is your VIP invite. You’ll want to get super comfy with:
Fractions, decimals, and percentages (because they’re EVERYWHERE).
Negative numbers (they look scary but are just misunderstood).
Basic equations (like solving for x—which is way less dramatic than solving for who ate the last cookie).
Step 2: Resources Now, so I know some that actually help and you cna totaay check em out.
Khan Academy (free and amazing) – It breaks things down like a wise old math guru.
IXL (interactive practice) – Like a math video game but without rage quitting.
Art of Problem Solving (Pre-Algebra book) – For when you want to flex some serious math muscles.
YouTube tutors (Math Antics, PatrickJMT, and others) – Because sometimes, a good explanation beats staring at a textbook in despair.
Step 3: Train for the Test Like a Math Gladiator🙌
Find out EXACTLY what’s on the summer placement test – Schools love to be predictable.
Do timed practice tests – Because math under pressure is a different beast.
Teach someone else – If you can explain it, you truly understand it (plus, it makes you sound like a genius).
Now I am gonna give one little Psychological Hack. 👀
Trick your brain – Instead of saying, Ugh, I HAVE to study math, say, I GET to crack the code of the universe. Trust me this motivates your brain to do amazing things. 💪 Just try man!
Reward system – Every time you conquer a tricky concept, treat yourself (chocolate, a break, a victory dance—whatever works).
Mindset shift – Mistakes = progress. Every time you mess up, you’re actually getting smarter.
These work because hhe brain is in your control, just like when you feel sad and cried. Alot you go through burnout and not even want to sit, and when you are happy yet you are ever excited, so these things really work out. And has for my own students.
Sooo now, You’ve got this, Cindy! Algebra 1 won’t know what hit it. Go forth and math like a legend! 🙌Good luck!

It is a good idea to prepare for Algebra I in advance. We need a reasonable textbook on Pre-Algebra for the preparation.
We can find many good free textbooks at OpenStax (https://openstax.org/). In the Math section for Developmental Math, you can download a Prealgebra (https://openstax.org/details/books/prealgebra-2e) textbook for free.
It can be a good resource for your summer placement test.
