How do I stand out as a high schooler who intends on majoring in Political Science?
I've seen people from other schools end up at top schools, but I feel that my extracurriculars don't really suit the field. I have a few leadership experiences and some are more marketing or public relations.

Hi Cynthia,
It's absolutely possible to stand out as a high school student aiming to major in Political Science, even if your current extracurriculars aren't directly related. Focus on showcasing transferable skills like leadership, communication, and strategic thinking, which are crucial in politics. Stay informed on current events by engaging in debates, writing blog posts, or starting a discussion group. Look for opportunities such as joining a debate club or volunteering for political campaigns, and link your experiences to Political Science in your applications. Highlight your passion and initiative through any clubs or projects you've started. Even though I didn’t major in Political Science, these strategies apply to all majors. The key is to showcase your unique strengths and how they prepare you for your intended field of study. Remember, it's not just about your activities, but how you present them and their relevance. Best of luck with your college applications!
