Dear Guillermo,
I very much appreciate your interest in computer science. Your vision for a professional career is commendable. I guess you're already in high school.
To become a computer engineer, you need to be proficient in such subjects as maths, physics, chemistry, computer applications, design & graphics etc. Mathematics, physics, computer applications, design & graphics form the basic foundation for specialization you desire. It's worth nothing that engineering science has developed as a result of the human quest to find solutions to some of humanity's most pressing needs. Your entry into this field is a great opportunity to contribute to this noble cause. Computer science offers you the opportunity to look at both hardware & software.
To be able to specialize in AI, a foundational course in software engineering is desirable. When combined with electronics engineering, software engineering puts you in a very special category of engineers.
AI gives you the opportunity to design machines, including robotics, with human - like capabilities such as reasoning, learning, planning & creativity.
It already has a huge impact on business. Benefits include higher productivity, enhanced customer satisfaction & significant cost saving.
It's applications include such areas as customer relationship management, suply chain optimization, market research, cyber security, robotics etc.
Therefore, opportunities for innovation are immense.
Your smartness in persuing this career determines how far & how high you get. Desire, commitment & diligence are key.

Hey Guillermo,

It's fantastic that you already know you want to explore computer science and AI, and you're thinking about remote work at just 17. You're truly ahead of the game! Let's break it down in a simple way:

1. Start Building Skills — Right Now
While you're in high school, focus on picking up the skills that companies value. AI work often requires coding knowledge like:
- Python (essential for AI and machine learning)
- SQL (for managing data)
- TensorFlow / PyTorch (AI/ML frameworks)

There are plenty of free resources online—like freeCodeCamp, Coursera, and YouTube channels such as Tech With Tim—where you can dive into projects and get practical experience. The sooner you start, the more confident you'll become.

2. Work on Projects & Build a Portfolio
Companies want to see your abilities, especially for remote roles. Begin with small projects:
- Create a simple AI project like a chatbot or image classifier
- Solve problems on Kaggle (AI competitions) or GitHub
- Display your projects on LinkedIn or a personal website

Your portfolio is your showcase—demonstrate what you've achieved.

3. Network & Look for Remote Internships
Don't wait for college—start connecting now:
- Join AI or tech Discord servers, and Reddit communities (like r/MachineLearning or r/cscareerquestions)
- Participate in virtual hackathons or AI workshops—many are free for students
- Explore remote internship platforms like Forage, Internshala, AngelList, or LinkedIn

Even small projects or internships help you gain experience and make connections.

Remember, your remote work dream is within reach. Tech is a great field for remote jobs—AI engineers, data scientists, and coders are working from home, in cafés, or even while traveling. Keep building your skills, put yourself out there, and you'll achieve your goals.

You've got plenty of time, Guillermo—start small but stay consistent. You're on the right path. Reach out if you need any help or have questions—I'm always here to support you!

To all the Computer Science Enthusiasts and students planning to have career in AI & Computer Science, Please follow the guidelines below:

1. Prepare your resume with your skill set and academic projects and achievements.
2. Create a profile in Linkedin professional network.
3. Check for any Organization like Qualcomm which is developing chips for advanced AI and 5G,6G technologies and mobile devices.
4. Find some engineers connected to this organization in linkedin and study their profile.
5. Update your profile similarly highlighting your skills and achivements.
6. Go to job finding section in Linkedin, where you can find the jobs relevant to your skill.
7. Open any one Job Description or posting and read the Job description thoroughly and understand the skill requirement.
8. Check for at least 5 to 10 job postings for entry level or intern position that you are seeking for and see the skill requirement like if they want you to be good with Python or some programming and scripting languages.
9. If you have the required skill for any of the job postings available online in linkedin or any other job portal just apply for that position.
10. Create profiles in job hunting portals needed but make sure to work out on the above steps first.

Please see a job posting for an AI intern and the job requirement.

All the best and good luck.

Next time when you post for a question, please post your skill set first before asking for guidelines on how to get a job.

Thanks and Regards,

An example below:

About The Role:

Millions of people use Notion — and this number is increasing every day. That means a million people trust us to deliver a fast, reliable, and secure experience, and we value this more than anything. We want to keep earning trust, while also continuing to amaze our users with the tools they can build in Notion. This is where you come in. You will be a part of our first engineering internship class and will help us forge a performant and reliable path forward to Notion's future.

During your 12-week internship, you will be paired with a mentor that will help guide you as you work closely with our team to build and ship AI projects. These projects will drive valuable impact to our customers and engineers. Take a look at what our past intern cohort worked on with our Blog post here and here and TikTok post.
