Since you sing a lot, i will advice you start learning how to produce. this you can start by watching you tube video but with the guidance of a music producer or if you have money go and pay for classes by an experienced music producer. i could guide you too in your learning process. but its a rigorous one and you must be determined to succeed

I suggest looking into used EBay Focusrite USB audio interface to connect to pc or laptop. Free Cakewalk software is good for audio recording.

Rafael’s Answer

Hi Sophie,

Congrats on following your passion for music! Becoming a music producer for a band is super exciting, and your songwriting and singing skills are a solid start. Keep shaping those abilities, and maybe learn an instrument or brush up on music theory. Get familiar with production softwares through online tutorials and courses. Maybe setting up a basic home studio with a good microphone, headphones, and a DAW can really help. Try to network with local musicians by going to shows, joining music forums, and using social media to connect with potential collaborators. I recommend to gain experience by producing tracks for local bands or friends to build your portfolio, and seek feedback from industry pros to improve. Ideally, stay updated on the latest trends in music production and tech to keep your work fresh. Persistence and passion are key in the music industry, and by following these steps, you'll find opportunities to produce music for bands. Good luck!

Evaristus’s Answer

Being a music producer feel great and for someone who writes and sings a lot I believe music production is a great way to express your creativity.

First, if you don't have basic knowledge about music production, you can start by taking beginners online music production courses and watching YouTube videos.

Secondly, you can get yourself a laptop preferably a core i5, 8 or 16gig ram and 500gb of storage space.

Thirdly, get a music production software installed on your laptop (eg FL studio, Logic for macbook, Studio One, Cubase, Garageband, Mixcraft etc) preferably the software you were taught with in your online class and those you saw on YouTube.

Fourth, get a headset that you can use to listen to what you're producing.

Finally, Practice! Practice!! Practice!!! Keep practicing..

I believe after getting the knowledge on music production and having some gears then as a producer you can work on different projects for a band, bringing your creativity into their projects.
