Becoming a singer doesn't require any special type of headphones. It's more about mastering vocal performance, breathing techniques, and learning to sing well. Headphones aren't essential for singing; I've been a DJ for 30 years and have made things work with whatever I had. Headphones mainly help block out surrounding noise so you can focus on your sound, but if you're singing at home or alone, you don't really need them. They're more useful for studio work. I hope this helps you!

Hello, Sophie !
You will need to buy an in-ear monitor. You'll be able to get clear sound during live performance with it. They are custom molded and tailored. The most used brands are Shure, Empire Ears, Ultimate Ears, and 64Audio.
I would advise, since Walmart seems to sell them, that you go to the store in person so that the sales representative can give you information about what would be the best for you for your particular performances. I have left links to three websites that carry them. Best Buy does not sell them. You can also try music shops in your town.
You can have issues staying in pitch by wearing headphones, though, so you may want to start out with the in ear monitor.
You can wear headphones when in a studio being recorded. In this case, the studio would have the necessary equipment. You can go to your school's Music Department to see if you can borrow a set. You can read about and see and price in studio recording headphones at the link below, but also inquire about them at your local music shops. I left two links about headphones for you below.
I hope this helps a little and I wish you well in your ventures !

Hi Sophie!
You don't need headphones to become a singer. That said, singers do wear headphones or earbuds in various circumstances:
- When performing in a large venue or with a loud band behind you, it can help to have monitors in front of you on stage so you can hear your own voice and stay in tune, or to wear in-ear monitors. Here is a YouTube video that explains this practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FekM8cXya7k
- When recording, singers often wear headphones in the recording booth or studio. The headphones allow you to hear and sing to a "headphone track" of the instrumentals and other singers, including themselves. I record singers in my studio and some of them like to use a one-ear headphone for the headphone track so their "open" ear can hear themselves singing naturally in the air. However, most like to use a set of over-the-ear headphones where they have the instrumental and their own voice from the microphone in one or both ears. It's all a matter of preference.
- For an inexpensive but serviceable set of starter headphones, you might try one of the Shure 240A ($59) or 440A ($99) models available on Amazon.
Good luck on your singing career - you're going to do great!

The Sennheiser HD 280 PRO headphones are the real deal. They sound amazing and meet all the necessary requirements. The Sennheiser sound is tight and not overly hyped. The bass is punchy without getting all muddy, and the highs have a crisp transient response without being harsh.
