Hello Michelle !
It's wonderful you're ready to restart your career after focusing on your family ! even though you don't have formal work of experience.
Starting your career after a break can be a fulfilling journey, especially with your MBA background. Begin by assessing your skills and interests. Identify both your soft skills, like communication and organization, and hard skills, such as analytical abilities and knowledge of business concepts. Think about what areas interest you most—whether it's finance, marketing, or management.

To refresh your knowledge, consider enrolling in online courses. Platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and LinkedIn Learning offer a variety of courses that can help you gain new skills or update existing ones. Additionally, pursuing relevant certifications, such as in project management or digital marketing, can enhance your qualifications and make you more appealing to potential employers.

Networking is crucial in today’s job market. Reconnect with former classmates or professors who might assist you in finding job opportunities. Joining professional groups or attending local networking events can help you meet industry professionals and gain insights into current trends. Engaging in workshops and seminars can also broaden your network and knowledge.

Gaining practical experience, even if it's not formal employment, can be beneficial. Consider volunteering for organizations aligned with your interests; this provides experience and allows you to build connections. Alternatively, freelancing on platforms like Upwork or Fiverr can help you gain experience while working flexibly around your family commitments.

When it comes to crafting your resume, focus on your educational background and highlight transferable skills gained from managing your household—such as budgeting and multitasking. Use a clean and professional format, and tailor your resume and cover letter for each job application to reflect how your background aligns with the specific role.

As you search for jobs, utilize various job boards like Indeed, Glassdoor, and LinkedIn. Many companies list openings on their websites, so explore those as well. When applying, ensure your applications are customized to showcase how your skills and experiences fit the job requirements.

Preparing for interviews is equally important. Conduct mock interviews with friends or family to practice your responses. Research the companies you apply to, and prepare thoughtful questions to ask during the interview to demonstrate your interest and engagement.

Consider flexible work options like part-time roles or remote positions, which can offer the adaptability you need as you balance work and family life. Remember that job searching can take time, and facing rejection is part of the process. Stay positive and persistent, continuing to learn and adapt your strategies based on your experiences.

Starting your career after a break is entirely achievable. By leveraging your education, updating your skills, networking effectively, and being open to various opportunities, you can successfully transition back into the workforce. Celebrate your progress, and be patient with yourself as you embark on this new chapter. Good luck!

Hello, Rajbinder !

Congratulations on your academic achievement and your growing family ! That is a big accomplishment and having the desire to start working is a great addition !

Considering how childcare is 24/7 and the village you live in and what the corporate climate may or may not be there, I would suggest that you start your own remote online business of some sort. This way you can work from home, manage your own company, do the promotions and advertising and everything else that you would otherwise be doing for an employer.

I guess you realize that applying to a company would require having experience and expertise in your focused area of Business. It would also mean commuting to whichever company you apply to, taking away the duties you may have in tending to your family. So focusing on a home business of some kind may be your best bet.

Freelancing as a consultant will also require that you had extensive experience in various aspects of business, too. Think about what type of business you can start from home, a service or a product and research how to create an online business by doing a search online. There are a lot of resources and information on how to start on the internet by doing a search using search engines.

It's perfectly fine to do one thing, only family or only career, as many people successfully do. Only you know your personal daily routine and schedule, so you will have to come up with a home business that you can manage. I do hope that this is something helpful to think about and I wish you all the best !
