What's it like in the day of a Biology Major?

I'm currently a junior in 11th grade, and am wondering how this certain path is in college. I had a blast learning AP Biology in 10th grade, and wanted to know if the college path for it is anything similar.

As a biology major, the majority of your semester schedules will be STEM-heavy, with lots of science, labs, and math courses taken simultaneously. Planning your study habits is crucial, as professors will often schedule projects and/or exams around the same time and it can feel overwhelming.

This was my day-to-day schedule during my first freshman semester:
- Started my day with Chemistry I, followed by Biology I, and then my required communications course (some kind of speech class that I don't remember the name of)
- Twice a week I would have Calculus
This was my schedule during my second semester of freshman year:
- Started my day with Chemistry Lab, followed by Chemistry II, and then Calculus II in the afternoon
- On alternating days I would have Biology 2 and English

Depending on what kind of work you want to do after you graduate, you may also need to incorporate time for work or shadowing opportunities.

College biology is a lot more intense than high school biology. If your high school teaches biology well and you have no trouble passing the AP Biology exam, you'll probably have no problem adjusting to college biology and taking on lower-division biology courses. (Upper-division courses for this major can be pretty tough, but by the time you get to that point, you will already know whether or not the field is for you.) On the other hand, if the AP exam ends up being tough for you, you can expect college biology to feel tough as well, though the courses are still doable with the right amount of studying. Overall, people who enjoy immersing themselves in science classes at an in-depth level have a great time with this major.
