How do I know if the # College I chose is given me the #education need for my career choice?

Will the # College I chose properly prepare me for the #work force?

Thank you comment icon How do we connect with the schools? As I live in Europe (Finland) I was wondering how I could be more productive with the information provided to me by the TGR Foundation? How would you like me to move forward with you guys? Frank Oldfield

Hi Devyn,

Depending on the field you are in, any college should be able to adequately prepare you for the workforce. You'll never know what a specific job is going to entail, but most entry-level positions provide on-the-job training that acquiesces you into their company culture, preferred methods, and general ways of doing things. If you have a career in mind, do some research and find the best/most economical schools that will align with what you are pursuing. Also, if you do know what you may want to do, call into a company and ask to speak with one of their representatives and ask fact-finding questions about how they got where they did today. People are always willing to help.

Thanks!

Mike

Angela’s Answer

Hi Devyn, I would strongly recommend talking to the current students, as well as individuals who graduated from that school in recent years. Most schools have a career development center that can connect you with those folks and the vast majority of them are more than willing to talk and share their experience. Hearing some true stories helps tremendously. The other thing I would recommend is to be open minded and perhaps reach out to a few more schools that may not have been on the top of your list but you have heard good things about or sound interesting to you. Good luck!
