What is the best way to manage time and stray from procrastination?

I am asking this question because I am one who has poor time management. I also suffer from laziness and procrastination, thus causing me to perform mediocrely rather than brilliantly. This also makes me afraid of college due to the responsibility of self-discipline and time management. #stressed

Definitely write down your responsibilities from most urgent to least. There is a sense of satisfaction you get from checking things off the list and being able to see all you are accomplishing keeps you motivated.

Michael’s Answer

Hi Jaquan,

I, unfortunately, have always been in the same boat as you, but I did start turning that around in college. Especially in today's instant gratification society, it can be difficult not to procrastinate. What worked for me was physically writing down a schedule week by week. I would write down my weekly school schedule, work schedule, events I had to attend, and any other commitments or obligations to determine my free time. In another column I would write down all that I needed to accomplish that week (homework, essays, club events, sports, etc.). You have to commit to setting time aside to accomplish the things you need to, and writing out a schedule certainly helps you do that.

Thanks!

Mike
