Oh dear, real life is existence. In college you mingle with your age mates, people from different walks of life too. Your thinking gets challenged from experiencing the diversity. In short no amount of words can describe a picture never painted with clarity. Even after observing the painting, it says different things to each viewer. You will discover your niche.

College provides basic guidance and educates you to think RIGHT. Once you are in a real world, you have to use your knowledge and ability to navigate through various challenges. You may make mistakes, but that's the best way to learn and move forward.

I think one of the best ways that college prepares you for the real world is “learning how to learn”. College won’t teach you every single thing you will need in the real world, but it will teach you the skills on 1) how to look up and research information and 2) how to ask for help and work with people who have the skills you are looking to learn
