How can I best memorize medical terminology?
I am a college student applying for the program of radiologic technology. I will soon need to take several classes discussing anatomy, and I feel I will do best if I understand medical terms. However, they can be difficult to understand and remember. How can I best memorize these terms?

Well, depends on where you go. The school I went to went over the same chapter over and over and over again that I ended up having to leave the classroom and take a walk, so hopefully you are going into a course like this. If not, if it helps to, yes, have flash cards if that's your thing. Otherwise it helps to use utilize words that reminds you of the medical terminology words. Or do weird things. For instance, conchae of nose, my friend and I in Xray school would do stupid stuff to remind us of anatomy and terminology. She literally poked my nose after we learned Conchae and said it and I never forgot. Use reminder words and phrases. It really helps!!

Repetition is the secret to success! Start by discovering your learning style—whether it's visual, auditory, or kinetic. Choose the best way to learn that fits your style, and then keep practicing over and over. You can do it!

Practice, practice, practice! Write down concepts in your own words and make flash cards. Drill them. Sort them into know, kinda know, and don’t know piles. Drill again.

Flash cards are a great study tool. Also learning root words helps with medical terminology. For example “hemo” means blood. So knowing this can help you learn words like “hemoptysis” which is coughing up blood. Having a picture of red or blood on your flashcards can also help engrain it into your memory.
