If I did not that the PSATs, what is my likelihood of getting a full ride with just the SAT score?

I did not take the PSAT, but I have a good SAT score. Would that qualify me for a full ride, or just merit scholarships?

Hi Carina,  I have two sons - one graduated in May 2017 and the other is a Sophomore this year so I have a good bit of experience with college and scholarship applications.  Both of my sons attended top tier (Ivy League) schools.  The PSAT is really only needed if you are trying to win a National Merit Scholarship.  That test is the qualifier for this scholarship.  As you know, there are many other scholarships available to students and having an SAT score will definitely be sufficient if you are hoping to get a full ride.  Colleges are looking for your SAT and/or ACT score - if you have a PSAT score some may ask for it, but they are interested in either the SAT or ACT.  These are the critical tests.  Best of luck to you!

You can certainly still obtain scholarships with an excellent SAT score, even if you did not take the PSAT. The PSAT is only important in obtaining national merit scholarships. I would emphasize that to obtain a full ride, your SAT score needs to be excellent. You will need to study.
