Are there any scholarships or grants that cover my mental health services fees?

I suffer from acute anxiety and I would love to keep my current therapist to help me with the transition from being a full time worker to being a full time student. I'd like to know if there is any money available to cover this necessary service. #mentalhealth #anxiety #undocumented

Call 211 and ask this question. This is a 24 hour Social Services phone line. I do not know if they have funds to see a specific therapist, but they will provide you with some resources.

I don't know of any scholarships. You might qualify for Medicaid insurance (depending on income and resources). Medicaid might have a mental health benefit where you live. There are sliding scale mental health providers in many cities/towns I've lived in. The rates might me closer to $35 a session. The other option is to locate a primary care clinic that has a behavioral health clinician where they can do short term brief interventions. Some jobs (even part time jobs) in larger companies have an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) and will do counseling for free (a few sessions). Sorry, I wish mental health services were more easily accessible.

Debbie Yoro recommends the following next steps:

See suggestions above.
Read books about anxiety and how to self manage. There are great podcasts also that are good to listen to.
Start a meditation practice to get started on managing thoughts and feelings.
