How come their are more men then women for tech jobs?
Girls can sometimes get timid and feel like they can't do the job they are tying out for because they don't understand one simple thing!!!

I was asked to be put in to fashion school rather than be in engineering. I was adamant of getting in to engineering and did so. In my engineering class there was 1 girl to every three guys. That is the first roadblock because not many girls are encouraged to be in engineering school. From there many of my friends got married and didn't go to work, where as all the guys i know went to work. That's the second roadblock. After putting in some years at work, many of my women colleagues quit work when they got married and had babies. None of my male colleagues quit. That's the third roadblock since many companies do not give adequate maternity leave to recoup and recover. Plus they don't have the support to put kids in day care due to high costs and women were expected to stay at home and take care of them. Hence there aren't as many women in tech jobs.
Here is an NPR article on the same for you to read : https://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2016/12/21/505864391/why-arent-there-more-women-in-tech-a-tour-of-silicon-valleys-leaky-pipeline
My advise to girls like you is to, get in to engineering schools and do your best. Apply for the best and brightest of tech jobs and make sure you find the right support circle (Friends and family) that will encourage you to keep working and help you with other things.

The reality is girls aren't encouraged to study math or science. And if we do well in those subjects, we are known as "geeks" and that's not fun. I loved being in the physics when I was in school but that didn't score any points with the boys =( If you are interested in a tech job - stay with it! It's worth the extra work! There are 4 million science & tech jobs open now and that is expected to keep growing in the future! STEM jobs also pay an average of $80,000 per year. Wouldn't that be nice? And you can do it with a little persistence & support! Check out this news story for more inspiration: https://www.verizon.com/about/news/crossing-digital-divide-and-finding-success-one-students-story
