To be a vet you're looking at 8-10 years in college. First you'll need to get your Bachelor's degree which is typically 4 years (or 5 if you have to retake some classes). Then you apply to Vet school to get your Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) which takes another 4 years (or 5 if you have to retake some classes).
