For this question, I would say that everyone is different in deciding their techniques for memorizing information! For example, I have a habit of turning that information into a piece of a song and sing it out, I found that extremely useful because I can memorize information in lyrics and rhymes quickly. I would list out several techniques which I found useful below:
1. Don't simply memorize things -you have to understand that information as well. You could improve this by using elaborative interrogation, where you ask yourself questions while you study and memorize them.
2. Retrieval practice (test your ability at recalling information) - you can do it by using quizzes and flashcards.
3. Create a mindmap - this is a good approach to memorize information as you have to deeply understand the information and relate them to one another.
4. Talk to yourself - this may sound silly but trust me, it helps! After you revise the information, you can try to explain that information to yourself to make sure that you truly absorb the information.
5. Find a learning partner - you can question each other about the materials and by explaining to your friends, you are actually getting more deep understanding and knowledge.
Hope those tricks can advantage you in learning! Good luck!
Best regards,
Jess

Hi Valerie! This is a great question, and I am glad you're thinking about this to help further your studies. There is not a "one fits all" answer to this; you just have to find what works best for you! From personal experience, I can say that I've found rewriting information extremely helpful. Also, testing yourself by summarizing and recalling the information in front of your family/friends/or classmates can help you practice and assess how you're doing along the way. It's important to give yourself enough time in order to avoid unnecessary stress. Best of luck :)

Different things work for different people. Here are some of the things that I and the students I tutor or teach find useful:
1. Try to get so interested and practiced in the topic that you don't really have to memorize much.
2. Make an audio recording of the stuff you need to memorize and play it constantly, like when you are working out or walking around.
3. Study just before you go to sleep and the first thing when you wake up. Repeat for multiple days.
4. Don't listen to music while studying. Research suggests in interferes with a lot of mental activity.
5. Ironically, this often works well: make up a song (or poem) with the things to memorize. Sing it out loud and in your head a lot.
6. Flash cards!
7. Flash card contests with friends!
8. Figure out how your brain works. Do you burn in information better when your review it audibly, out loud verbally, visually, by writing it by hand, by drawing/doodling, by practicing with friends, etc.?
9. Invent an exciting action-movie (so it is very memorable) in your head where all the topics/information you need to memorize pop up during the story.
