You don't always know, but sometimes people who have received advice will write or email to thank you or let you know what the outcomes of a particular situation was.

Hello Marla, thank you for your question. The answer to your question is I don't know if my advice helped the person or not, when giving advice what you're really doing is giving the person an objective opinion about the situation they find themselves in. Best of luck
