Is it easier to study by yourself or with a group of people?

I have a lot of smart friends, but am so used to studying alone. How do the college students study?

Hi! Well, studying can be a chore but we have to do it.  Making it easier by studying alone or with a group I think depends on what works for you.  Some people absorb more information on their own and some get more information if they study with others.  Either way there are always distractions and that’s what you will want to minimize to get things done.  If you don’t know which one is better for you then I suggest trying both.  On some cases it depends on the situation.  For example, if you think that others may have more study guides and resources than you, then you may be better off studying with them to make it easier and more productive.  I hope this helps.

I would recommend studying and learning things on your own first, and then studying with a group of people. Try to understand the content as much as possible and use your friends/groups as a resource to answer any questions you need help on. When you study with a group of people first, it can be very distracting and sometime you don't know if you are receiving the right/proper content vs your notes/books/professor. So study hard and don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions!

Hello! I actually have some personal experience with this matter. In high school I always preferred to study alone and this was perfectly fine to succeed in my high school level classes. However, once I went to college there was so much more material to learn! My tactic was as follows: I would study alone and get to the point where I thought I understood the big picture. Then, I would meet with my friends in a place with a whiteboard and we would hash out all the material and discuss it. It's alarming how much this helps! Talking things over with people is the best way to make sure you understand the material, and drawing it out always helped us memorize important information. Overall, I think studying with groups in college is essential. However, it is important that everyone in the study group puts in the same effort and wants to succeed. This will ensure that everyone pulls their weight and helps the group succeed.
