Where do i start
I'm planning on becoming a veterinarian school and how do you get into vet school? What are the steps taken to accomplish that goal?? I have thought about shadowing a local veterinarian to get an inside scoop. #school #vet-school #veterinarian

Shadowing a local veterinarian is an excellent first step to explore the field. I actually did the same, I shadowed the large animal veterinarian in my rural town on his farm calls when I was in high school. It was an amazing experience and truly opened me up to the day to day of being a large animal vet in the rural Midwest. While I ultimately ended up choosing a different health profession, shadowing is a great way to learn more.
The worst anyone can say is no, and then you just have to ask someone else until you get a yes. Good luck

How exciting! Becoming a veterinarian is a great choice! My advice to you is to talk to as many different veterinarians as possible to get an understand of what needs to be done. There are only about 28 vet schools in the US so they are competitive. One thing that is nice is that you can get your undergrad at any school and then apply for whichever Veterinarian school is best for you. If Vet school is your long term goal I would start looking at some schools you are interested in and start to see what they require so that from the start you can do things that will help make that dream come true. A lot of shelters and veterinarians sometimes hire part time kennel techs. As a kennel tech you don't normally need to much experience to start but it can help get your foot in the door of the field you are interested in. Good luck!
