At what point during my medical career path should I apply for career-related internships to supplement my college education?
To be a successful student, it is imperative to have practice within a designated career to become an experienced physician and know I will need years of clinical experience. I am wondering, when is it possible/advisable to begin internship work within the approximate 9-10 years of pre-med and med school education? What resource could I use in the future to help me find medical internships?
Thanks.

As early as possible in middle school or high school, you should get to know yourself better to determine if medicine is an appropriate career path for you to study and then get to know and meet and talk to people who are involved in that area to see what they do, how they got there, what advice they have, and what advice they have regarding obtaining appropriate career exposure opportunities including internship experience. You can start to get helpful career exposure opportunities such volunteering, internships, shadowing, part time and full time and summer jobs, etc. beginning during your high school years and summers while in high school.
Getting to know yourself and how your personality traits relate to people involved in various career opportunities is very important in your decision making process. During my many years in Human Resources and College Recruiting, I ran across too many students who had skipped this very important step and ended up in a job situation which for which they were not well suited. Selecting a career area is like buying a pair of shoes. First you have to be properly fitted for the correct size, and then you need to try on and walk in the various shoe options to determine which is fits the best and is most comfortable for you to wear. Following are some important steps which I developed during my career which have been helpful to many .
