There's plenty of short term work that you could get into between fast food and retail, maybe even helping a lawn mowing service. I'd recommend taking a look at summer camp worker for the summer as well. You can earn a decent wage there and get a certification for lifeguarding or ropes course work that'll help you find some better part-time work later on.

I think a useful practice to start is to create a invoice of all your expenses. Next, write up what you make. See what the difference is, and put aside a certain amount of money from each pay check. Some people have been successful creating two bank accounts and putting money in one they do not touch.
