What steps do I need to take to get an international internship?

I am a junior Computer Engineering major. I am currently learning German as a second language and one of my goals is to have a software development internship in Germany. I have been applying for internships and looking for international ones, but I would like to hear if there are any specific steps I should take to increase my chances. #internships #german #second-language #software-development #computer-engineering

Cassia,

My suggestion is to get an internship through your University which could be part of a study abroad program at the school.

Check with your university. They may offer study abroad internships. Depending on which company/field you are interested in, you can also check the company website and search for internship programs. Most offer Fall/Spring/Summer internships.

Your best bet is to apply in the US where German companies have presence such as Audi, Porsche, Benz, Siemens, Bosch, Stithl and others.
Your fluency in German language will enable you to go to Germany as per job requirements.
Focus on Software Engineering before the German language - you will have lot more choices. For instance: You can work for Amazon for $200,000 per year (my son took the job when he graduated 3 years ago) salary which German companies will not come close to it.
