Mike’s Answer

Stay in school and make good grades, be disciplined, this is necessary in life and SWAT. Decide where you want to be a police officer. Some SWAT Teams are full time and some are part time call up. It is physically and mentally challenging, it is not like on T.V. Lot of training, team building and studying. You need to better than proficient with firearms. A team leader is a combination of Seniority, education and training, have you applied yourself in training, have you sought out training to better yourself in SWAT, are you a team player, rational, patient and can you listen, really listen. There is a lot that goes into being a member of a SWAT Team and more that goes into being a SWAT Team Leader. So start now with disciplining yourself, both physically and mentally.

Wayne’s Answer

Being a SWAT team squad leader will first require you to join a police force. You can see what the requirements are to join a police force in your area. Once you are in the police force you can wait for a position on a SWAT team. Typically this is a part time when necessary position. So you would have other duties in addition. As for being the team leader. This is based on seniority. You have to work your way up with experience to that position.

Once you graduate college your employer makes sure that you meet the requirements for the position in which you are applying. Typically they look at transcripts to ensure that you have the necessary degree and classes and that you completed. Having a good GPA will assist with scholarships and graduating. Once you have graduated, the specific position for which you are seeking after you have been hired is based on how you do at your work not your college GPA.
