What college would you recommend?

I am currently in the 8th grade and I am interested in clothing design. I'm not positive what college I should go to. I've looked into a couple but haven't seen anything I 100% couldn't pass up. Do you have anything recommendations or tips on how to find a wider variety colleges? I would prefer a college in Kentucky.

Hello,

Fashion Institute of Technology(FIT) in New York or Parson's school of design also in NY are two good colleges for you to look into that have many course offerings in Fashion. They offer design courses, merchandising and business couses. Perhaps in highschool you can get a job in a fashion retail store to see what you like about it.

Hope that helps.

Good Luck!

If you are going for fashion design, you will more than likely want to get a bachelor's degree. 4-year colleges are expensive, I would recommend starting at your local community college where you can take the general elective credits that will transfer to a 4-year college. You can visit the community college with a list of questions about your intended degree and where they would recommend transferring to complete your degree. (then visit that college if you are able) The community college will have a course comparison sheet that guarantees which classes you take that will transfer to the 4 year university.

B recommends the following next steps:

look up community colleges in your area. Call to request an appointment to talk to someone.
Research the community college and majors that they offer. Research fashion design and universities that you may want to attend.
Keep a list of questions that you have - no matter how trivial it may seem. You can make a word document on your computer so the list doesn't get lost or misplaced.
When the time comes to visit the college or university - take your list of questions with you.
Do what makes YOU happy!
