Being shy isn't a bad thing. But to make friends you might need to come out of your shell even if it is slowly. You can start by waving hi to somebody you know, or by getting involved in more group activities. I used to be shy myself but I found out that there are a lot of friendly people out their who are willing to just have a conversation. So just take that first step by saying hi to people you already know and participating more in group activities. Try to speak up more.

Hi Roseanna! It may seem hard but to make new friends, especially as a student but I promise that there are so many people in the same position as you! The best way to do it is to just be yourself (as cliche as that may sound). As a student there a lot of opportunities to meet people in your classes, or by joining a club that interests you. By doing things that make you happy, you'll feel more confident to reach out and attract other's happiness! Being in a club may seem hard as well, but the best type of friends and the easiest ones to make are the ones that you share interests with! If you are a high school student that may seem hard, but once you get to college it is a clean slate for everyone and even the people that you may think have it all together could be struggling too. Don't be afraid to admit that you are shy and see if others are are as well! I hope this helps!
