Hi Claire! I would say a lot depends on the teaching requirements for your state. You can usually find these on your state's Department of Education website. For most, if not all, you will need a bachelors degree in education. Most high school-bound teachers will then specialize or minor in the science they want to teach (Chem, Bio, etc.). States also usually have an alternative certification program (Teach For America, a state-run program, etc.) for college grads who want to teach but do not have a major in education. I hope this helps and you can research the requirements in your state!

Claire,

I taught in Illinois and Arizona. In both states, you need to have a bachelors' degree in the subject you want to teach. For example, if you want to teach Biology, you need to have a bachelors degree in Biology.
