Does mechanical engineering require a lot of chemistry?

I'm interested in mechanical engineering, but I'm not very good at chemistry (and I don't like it). Is this a big problem? #mechanical

Roshan’s Answer

Hey Ronald,

To keep it short and simple, no, mechanical engineering does not require much chemistry.
Most Mech E. programs require an introductory chemistry course, one that you can often AP out of. After that, you get out what you put in. You can choose to take more chemistry courses to better your understanding of the chemical nature of the materials you are using in your mechanical classes however that does teeter over the line on Material engineering.

Hope it helps
Good Luck!

Pravin’s Answer

It does not require Chemistry knowledge. The basic Chemistry knowledge which we learn in schools is sufficient.
In Mechanical Engineering we need Basic Science and Physics and Mathematics.
