Hello Vernon,

I was so excited to see your question, especially for my hometown.  It's a great area to live in and the cost of living is very reasonable.  Living there would bring many benefits over time but I will stick to answering your question about Welder pay.

According to Pay Scale, A Welder in Buffalo earns an average of $17.13 per hour. This is 2% lower than the national average for a Welder which is $17.50 per hour. Wages for a Welder in Buffalo range from $12 to $26.50.  So you can make from anywhere in that range.  If you work full time (40 hour week) then you can expect to take home $480-$1,060 (minus taxes) per week.  Welders are a highly skilled trade that you may end up getting to the top of the scale, the longer you work in the field.  I am placing some informational links below so you can get more information.  I hope this was helpful.

  1. https://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Welder/Hourly_Rate/5aeda94f/Buffalo-NY
  2. https://www1.salary.com/NY/Buffalo/Welder-I-Salary.html
  3. https://www1.salary.com/NY/Buffalo/Welder-I-hourly-wages.html?mapview=state
  4. https://www.indeed.com/q-Welder-l-Buffalo,-NY-jobs.html

My recommendation is that you:

  1. Research the links to get an idea of the salaries
  2. Compare to the cost of living in the area to see the full benefits
  3. Compare these to other cities you may want to live in
  4. Decide the best option from there
