Douglas’s Answer

Hi Alex,

One answer is that an engineer, electrical or otherwise, figures out what needs to be done and then supervises the electricians who are the workmen who build (implement) what needs to be done.

Another answer is that the training of an engineer involves obtaining a 4 year Bachelor of Science college degree while an electrician, may graduate from a vocational high school and then undergo several years of on-the-job training to become a journeyman electrician or technician.

A third answer is that on average,  an electrical engineer will earn quite a bit more money than an electrician.

Hope this helps,

Doug

Jeffrey’s Answer

Biggest differences between them is an electrician installs what the electrical engineer designs in most cases. Engineers calculate loads, Watts etc. in office environments while electricians work on site. The career has many sub-branches as well.
