It's a good idea to start networking as quickly as you can. Get to know your peers, your leadership team, and everyone who works for your company. Start fine-tuning your resume so it's always updated, and play to your strengths. Keep an eye out for more job offers within your same company so you can jump on them when they are available.

In order to advance in business, I would recommend networking (ie Linkedin). In addition, I would recommend looking to certifications within the area of the business you want to be in. With a certification specific to your desired business, you would have more networking opportunities locally within your certification field. Certifications would also help advance you in business. For example, if you are interested in Project Mgmt, refer to PMI.org for more details related to PM certifications and the requirements to obtain certification etc.

It depends on what business that you are in. But it is a good idea go to networking events. Never stop learning.
