Gary’s Answer

Happiness is how you feel when (you have helped someone else with a problem or situation that confronts them) (you have met the person you love and marry that person) (you have the privilege of bringing children into this world and help them mature into adults) (when you get that FIRST job which leads to others because you have developed valuable traits that other employers want and need) (you have set specific, attainable goals in life and begin to accomplish them) and (when you let those persons whom you have helped throughout your life know how important they were and are to you)!!!

Ken’s Answer

Attainment of happiness and success is when you can get up every morning and look forward to the day. This presupposes that you have gotten to know yourself to understand your interests, abilities, aptitudes, and aspirations. It is the culmination of a process of self discovery resulting in sufficient self knowledge to plan and execute an appropriate career path to self-satisfaction. This may very well start with an interest and aptitude test administered by your school counselor followed by networking with people who are doing those things that may be aligned with your appropriate career area. Happiness and success aren't always measured in dollars, but dollars may come along the way. Many people who make much money are very unhappy, as they have not learned step one as described above. It would help me better to answer your question if I were to know more about where you are in this process and what your hopes and dreams might be. Looking forward to learning more about your journey.

Thank you comment icon Thank you for your insightful answer! I have a question: Has working at a mental health care center changed the way you look at happiness for yourself? Has it changed you in any way? And are there hard days--such as being emotionally unavailable for your clients? Madeline
